You can prepare it using an electric “dripolator” or by manually pouring hot water over a single cup cone filter. Most electrical machines come with a comprehensive user guide so let’s take a look at the single cup cone method.
- Using a quality burr grinder take your fresh Green Cauldron bean down to a medium ground.
- Bring some freshly drawn water to the boil and then let rest for 45 seconds.
- Place your paper filter into the cone and over your cup
- Add your freshly ground coffee. We suggest about two heaped tablespoons. Again you can play around with this later to suit your taste.
- First add just enough hot water so to saturate the ground coffee. Allow the coffee to bubble or “bloom” as the coffee gives off gases of co2. Very little coffee should be dripping into your cup.
- After about 15 seconds it’s time to let loose your second pour. Keep an even flow moving back-and-forth to break the “bloom” whilst making sure not to leave any dark or blond spots on the surface.
- Once you have the desired amount in your cup, remove the cone and enjoy!
Quick Tip: Place your filter and cone over a “waste” cup and run hot water through the filter to rinse out any residual flavours and to pre-heat the cone. Allow the water to fully drain out before adding your coffee grind.
